Oakpark Drive Addition
The main aim of this project is to provide a connection between the first floor living spaces and the pool and garden below. The site slopes steeply away from street level, and the original 1980‘s house, while attempting to deal with this through a split level design, failed to create a good flow between indoor and outdoor living spaces. The redesigned house places the kitchen, the new hub of the house, at a mid level between the first floor living spaces and the garden and pool below. A cantilevered deck further breaks the previous spatial disconnect, so that the “split level” approach now creates an effortless relationship between the best elements of the property.
